An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Swedish Movie Poster (measures 27 1/2" x 39 1/2" [70 x 100 cm]) (Learn More) Viktor und Viktoria (released in the U.S. in 1935 as "Viktor and Viktoria"), the 1933 Reinhold Schunzel German cross-dressing musical romantic comedy starring Renate Muller, Hermann Thimig (in the title role as Viktor Hempel), Hilde Hildebrand, Friedel Pisetta, and Fritz Odemar. Note that a French-language version titled Georges et Georgette was filmed at the same time as this German version, but with a French cast. Also, this movie was remade three times: first in the U.S. as "First a Girl" in 1935 starring Jessie Matthews and Sonnie Hale, again in Germany in 1957 starring Georg Thomalla, and again in the U.S. in 1982 as "Victor/Victoria" starring Julie Andrews and James Garner, but this is the very first version! There is a 3" tear in the lower right edge and there is much tattering and some small paper loss around the edges of the poster with some repaired with pieces of conservation tape from the back. There are light water stains at lower right extending into the tagline area and there are creases, scuffs, and stains around the edges of the poster. Fortunately, the poster's defects are mostly in solid color or blank background and border areas around the edges and the central artwork is still in pretty nice condition!
