An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Night Key, the 1937 Lloyd Corrigan horror crime murder thriller ("Original story by William Pierce"; about a man who invents a new kind of burglar alarm, and crooks kidnap him so that they can force him to help them rob places protected by his alarms) starring Boris Karloff (billed as "Karloff"), Warren Hull (billed as "J. Warren Hull"), Jean Rogers, Alan Baxter, Hobart Cavanaugh, Samuel Hinds, David Oliver, Ward Bond, Frank Reicher, Edwin Maxwell, and Henry Brandon NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good to very good. The poster had oval paper loss at the top crossfold that measures roughly 1" x 2". Fortunately, it was almost completely in the background area. There was similar paper loss at the bottom crossfold, which affects the hair of the man and woman. There were creases, tears, and small areas of paper loss scattered down the vertical foldline and some vertical tears and separation on all three horizontal foldlines. There was paper loss and tears in the background area between the man and woman at bottom left, with a tear running through part of the man's face. There was paper loss in the left ends of the horizontal folds, with the paper loss at the bottom fold, extending into the edge of the art. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster had many significant defects, as noted above, but it is fortunate that few of them are in the large image of Karloff, and someone did a pretty nice job of restoration. I think the poster will display well on the new owner's wall, although you can see signs of the restoration when you look at it close up. Note that the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster. Learn More about condition grades
