Staggering!"; "Merian Cooper's amazing adventure in the unusual!"; "Staggering sensation! Electrifying excitement!"; "The ten most terrific thrills ever pictured"; "The cyclonic cavalcade of electrifying sensations that makes your eyes pop out and your heart skip a beat!"; produced by John Ford & Merian C. Cooper; with special effects by Ray Harryhausen, in his first movie, and "Technical Creator Willis O'Brien", creator of King Kong!) starring Terry Moore, Ben Johnson, Robert Armstrong, Frank McHugh, Douglas Fowley, Paul Guilfoyle, Nestor Paiva, and Pat Barton. Note that Ray Harryhausen was sadly not given any credit on the posters for this movie, likely because he was unknown at this time, but Willis O'Brien was credited, no doubt in the hopes that people would remember him from King Kong! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this pressbook complete, and that is because it is a most unusual pressbook. RKO made a very unusual pressbook for this movie. It has a full-color folder (with a "pop-up" at top center that unfolds when you open it) with two pockets on the inside, and each pocket contains a very similar looking section, and the two sections together plus the folder form the pressbook. One is marked "Advertising Book 'A'" and the other is marked "Publicity - Exploitation - Accessories Book 'B'". We once auctioned the two interior sections in one auction, and we once auctioned a much damaged full-color folder in a separate auction years later, but we have never had this complete pressbook before, and it will likely be many years before we have it again! We solely took pictures of the front and back of the full-color folder and the two sections are pictured inside their pockets, but you will have to win this auction to see everything else shown in this most unusual pressbook! Also note that pressbooks were prepared prior to a movie being released. Often, changes would be made in a movie advertising campaign (billing of actors, different images, etc.), and the theaters would print up special supplements that they would send out with the pressbooks that had already been printed. These supplements are very rare, far more rare than the pressbooks themselves! Some pressbooks would have no supplements, some would have one, and some would have several. This pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners received pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: very good, NO CUTS. This very large pressbook (which measures 22 1/2" x 36 1/2") is complete and uncut, and it was folded across the middle, and also the top portion (which includes the "pop-up") was folded horizontally as well. Obviously, this was because the pressbook was so large! It has some minor wear, but overall has survived in surprisingly nice condition, and we have never auctioned another complete pressbook, so we don't know how many years it may be before another one is auctioned.
