A Set of 20 Italian Art Prints (measure 13 1/4" x 19" [34 x 48 cm]) (Learn More) Warner Bros: Galleria del Successo (literally translates to "Warner Bros: Success Gallery"), the early 1960s Italian set of art prints featuring famous actors and actresses. We have seen portraits from this set which feature: Audrey Hepburn, Natalie Wood, John Wayne, Dean Martin, James Stewart, Frank Sinatra, Paul Newman, Angie Dickinson, Robert Mitchum, Carroll Baker, Richard Burton, Leslie Caron, Ray Danton, Peter Finch, James Garner, Deborah Kerr, Shirley Knight, Barbara Rush, Clint Walker, and Ephrem Zimbalist Jr. The portraits were created by famous Italian poster artists, which included: Ercole Brini, Averardo Ciriello, Angelo Cesselon, Sandro Symeoni, Silvano 'Nano' Campeggi, and Carlantonio Longi. Note that we know that Warner Bros created one of these Galleria del Successo sets for 1959-60 and 1961-62 at least. Those versions have information about which upcoming movies the stars were to appear in those years, printed on the backs. However, we have also auctioned prints from an undated set that makes no mention of specific movies on the back of the prints, and they are blank. If anyone knows more about these Galleria del Successo sets, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we previously auctioned a very similar set of Italian prints to this one, but with some differences. The earlier set only had 17 portraits, and this one has 20. That would make you think that three of these were "missing" from the previous set, but that previous set did not have "PRINTED IN ITALY" printed in the bottom right corner of each print, with information printed on the back (and we saw another similar set from a different year on the Internet), so there are at least three different sets. The previous set we auctioned came in a folder, while this set's folder is missing. It could possibly be a set that was distributed an entirely different way from the other sets. In any event, these art prints have wonderful art, and any of them could be framed and displayed individually, and they are really striking! The previous set of 17 prints in the folder sold for $924, and it will be interesting to see what this set (with three more prints, but no folder) sells for! Condition: very good to fine.
