An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) M'Liss, the 1918 Marshall Neilan silent California Gold Rush crime murder romantic love triangle melodrama (based on a story "By Bret Harte"; set in the 1849 Gold Rush, about a young woman whose father is set to inherit a fortune, but he is murdered, and a man who is a schoolteacher and sweet on the girl is blamed for the murder, but everything works out in the end) starring Mary Pickford (in the title role as Melissa 'M'liss' Smith), Theodore Roberts, Thomas Meighan, Tully Marshall, and Monte Blue. Note that this was the middle of three silent adaptations of this classic story, and it was filmed one final time in 1936, with Anne Shirley in the lead role! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). This slide is the kind that has two panes of glass that are taped together with black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of many older glass slides. We have provided a high quality scan of the image, but we have not taken a photo of the slide, because there would really be very little to see! Condition: very good. The theater that used this slide wrote the days the movie was playing in the play dates section at the bottom of the glass. The black tape is missing from two borders. Otherwise, the slide is in pretty nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
