Date Sold 2/26/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 12 Original 1959 Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Stills (Learn More) Lola Montes (released in the U.S. in an edited version in 1959 as "The Sins of Lola Montes"), the 1955 Max Ophuls French/German fictionalized biography romantic adventure tragedy ("The frank and shocking story of the worlds most famous WOMAN OF SCANDAL!"; "She lived too intensely and far too well!"; "The True story of a fancy woman!") starring Martine Carol (in the title role as Lola Montes), Peter Ustinov, Anton Walbrook, Henri Guisol, Lise Delamare, Oscar Werner, Will Quadflieg, Paulette Dubost, Ivan Desny, Oskar Werner, and Jean Galland. Note that the movie is presented with a framing device of an older Lola Montes appearing at a circus, with a series of re-creations of scenes from her life; when the movie was shown to U.S. audiences four years later, it was both censored and re-edited so that the scenes were presented in chronological order. Eventually, most of the original movie was reconstructed, and in 2008, a striking new Technicolor print was created. Also note that this was director Max Ophuls' final film and the only movie he made in color! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: SUPER IMPORTANT! THOUGH ONLY EIGHT OF THE STILLS ARE PICTURED, THE HIGH BIDDER ON THIS LOT WILL RECEIVE 12 STILLS FROM THIS MOVIE (but realize that on some of these lots with 9 or more stills there may be a few duplicates, mostly on post-1960 lots)! We realize there is an element of gambling to this, but we made only a small effort to find the best stills in these lots, and, if you have any willingness to gamble at all, you may find that you get some great stills that were not pictured! Please do NOT bid on this lot unless you can accept that you are only seeing eight of the stills. Condition: good. Each has a piece of tape on back (not put there for any restoration purpose) that discolors the front. Please see our super-sized image to get a good sense of the condition of this item prior to placing a bid. Learn More about condition grades
