An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Fast Mail, the 1922 Bernard J. Durning silent cowboy western gambling kidnapping crime action adventure thriller ("The wonder melodrama of love and thrills"; "By Lincoln J. Carter"; about a cowboy in the Deep South who is cheated by gamblers who include his girlfriend's brother, and when he refuses to pay, they kidnap his girlfriend, and he has to pursue them, and that includes trains, planes, racecars, and boats!; he ends up not only rescuing his girlfriend, but an entire family trapped in a hotel that catches on fire) starring Buck Jones (billed as "Charles Jones"), Eileen Percy, Jim Mason, William Steele, and Adolphe Menjou. Note that William Fox used an advertising campaign for this movie based on the slogan "Speed Counts", which referred to Jones having to rescue his girl in time, and for the posters, they used images of the world record-holding airplane, racecar, race horse, railroad train, ocean liner, and track miler (note that in 1922, the world record in the track was 4 minutes 12 seconds!). Note that Buck Jones' white horse was named Silver (just like The Lone Ranger's later on!), and Silver made 73 movies with Buck Jones from 1922 until Jones' death in 1942 in the tragic Cocoanut Grove fire. But oddly, Silver was almost never billed on the posters for Buck Jones' movies as so many other famous horses (most especially Tom Mix's Tony) were! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
