An Undated (probably 1940s) Re-Release (re-titled "Old Monterey" for this re-release) Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

In Old Monterey, the 1939 Joseph Kane California singing cowboy western musical starring Gene Autry, Smiley Burnette, June Storey, George 'Gabby' Hayes, The Hoosier Hotshots, Sarie and Sallie, The Ranch Boys, Stuart Hamblen, and Frank Ellis. Note that "Sarie and Sallie" appeared in this one movie and are virtually completely forgotten today. But they had a very successful career from 1934 to 1939 in country music! They were supposed to be two "hillbilly" women who were sisters, and they were played by Sarie Brown and Margaret Waters. Although they were billed as a music act, they actually did very little singing (they had backup people for that), but their main appeal was their endearing dialogues where they talked about all sorts of things (and they surely had a strong influence on Minnie Pearl's career)!
