Date Sold 8/21/2008Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed Deluxe 7" x 10" Movie Still (Learn More) Mae West (born Mary Jane West) was a major star in the early and mid 1930s, as famous for her racy comments and raw sexuality as for her actual acting achievements. She was the toast of Broadway during the late 1920s, because for ten years, she had starred in a series of very sexy plays, including "Sex" in 1926, for which she was prosecuted on morals charges in 1927! In 1928, she starred in "Diamond Lil" (which later became the 1933 movie "She Done Him Wrong"). But due to censorship difficulties, she made very few movies, and those were greatly toned down versions of her stage successes. Some of her movies include: Night After Night, She Done Him Wrong, I'm No Angel, Belle of the Nineties, Goin' to Town, Klondike Annie, Go West Young Man, Every Day's a Holiday, My Little Chickadee, The Heat's On, Myra Breckinridge, and Sextette! She passed away in 1980 at the age of 87. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) to Ray Campi by actress Mae West (she wrote "Ray, Sin-cerely, Mae West")! Note that this is a deluxe still printed on double weight paper stock. Also note that this still has been trimmed and it now measures 7" x 10". This autographed movie paper item comes to us from the personal collection of Ray Campi. Ray Campi was born in 1934 and in the 1950s, was a rockabilly musician, whose trademark was his white double bass (he is sometimes referred to as "The King of Rockabilly"). He left the performing life in the 1960s (after having supplemented his music career with lots and lots of unusual jobs!) and spent many years as a high school teacher, and also conducted hundreds of radio interviews with famous celebrities of past years (from movies, radio, TV, and music!) over a 25 year period. When he would schedule a guest for his interviews, he would obtain some movie paper memorabilia (almost always original release items, but sometimes re-releases, and in rare cases reproductions), and he would have that famous celebrity autograph those items while they conducted their interviews. eMoviePoster.com is offering these items directly from the collection of Ray Campi. In these days where so many people worry about the provenance of autographed items, it is so nice to be able to purchase items that were 100% certainly obtained in person, because Ray Campi was with the celebrity in question while they were signing this item! Those interested in learning more about Ray Campi can visit his website at http://www.electricearl.com/campi.html, and as he says on his site, "Ray Campi wants everyone to know that 'all rumors about my being dead are lies!' Ray would like to thank his friends for worrying about him." eMoviePoster.com is proud to offer this group of items from the Ray Campi collection, and we hope to offer many more in the future! Condition: good to very good. The still was originally larger than 7" x 10", and it was neatly trimmed, but I do not know from what original size. Otherwise, the still is in pretty nice condition!
