eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 8d773 TO PLEASE A LADY 5 8x10 stills '50 Gable & Stanwyck in race car, 1 with printed censor star! Date Sold 7/3/2016Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 5 Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Stills (Learn More) To Please a Lady (released in some English-speaking countries as "Indianapolis"), the 1950 Clarence Brown romantic automobile car racing sports comedy ("MGM's thrill-a-minute romance!"; "MGM's thrill-a-minute romance of a dare-devil and a darling!"; "Story and Screen Play by Barre Lyndon and Marge Decker") starring Clark Gable, Barbara Stanwyck, Adolphe Menjou, Will Geer, and Roland Winters NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that one of these stills is REALLY bizarre! That is because it is a romantic close up of Gable and Stanwyck about to kiss or kissing, and it is printed with a star over their lips and affecting their faces (surely an attempt to censor a "too daring" image!). But there is another one of the stills with a very similar scene, and also with one with Stanwyck showing her legs, and the "censor" star is not on either of those. We really don't know what to make of this, but it is definitely in the printing and how the still was created. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: very good. One of the stills has a censor "star" printed within the image (see above). Otherwise, the stills are in pretty good condition. Each has some marker writing on the back, but it has almost no effect on the front. Learn More about condition grades
