A 1938 Re-Release Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

The Son of the Sheik, the 1926 George Fitzmaurice Arabian silent desert romantic adventure melodrama sequel ("Hail now! 'The Son of the Sheik'"; "A sequel to 'The Sheik'"; "From the novel by E.M. Hull - Adapted to the screen by Frances Marion"; the son has his way with a dancing girl, and her father captures him and tortures him as payback) starring Rudolph Valentino (in a dual title role as both Sheik Ahmed Ben Hassan and Ahmed, the Sheik's son; in his final movie role!), Vilma Banky (as Yasmin), George Fawcett, Montagu Love, and Karl Dane. Note that this movie was a sequel to Valentino's wildly successful 1920 "The Sheik". Unfortunately, he passed away when filming was completed, and it was not released until after his death.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have only auctioned one in all our years of auctioning and that was in 2014! Note that this is from one of two different re-releases for this movie from ArtCinema. On one, the one-sheet is red, blue, and black, and has a large "BY POPULAR DEMAND" at the top. On the other, the one-sheet is blue and red (as is the window card), and it has a large "SENSATIONAL REVIVAL by POPULAR DEMAND". It is possible that they were two different posters made for the same re-release, but it is more likely they are from two different re-releases. We were able to date this red, blue, and black one to 1938 by the litho number. If anyone knows more about either of these posters, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Condition: good. The poster has separation in several portions of the fold edges (notably approximately 6" at left in the center horizontal fold and a few inches at lower right.) There are some creases and small tears along portions of the edges, with some blank border loss in portions of the upper edge. The image of Valentino is in pretty nice condition and the poster is otherwise "all there" and after a linenbacking with some restoration the poster will look fantastic!
