Note that the meaning of the words "Tin Pan Alley" are pretty forgotten today, but in the days before television, just about every home had a piano, and sheet music sold in the millions! In New York City, starting around 1915, 46th Street and 8th Avenue became known as Tin Pan Alley, because that's where all of the song publishers were located, and every would-be songwriter would dream of selling their songs there! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that original 1940 movie paper on this musical is pretty rare, but we have previously auctioned both styles of one-sheets for this movie, and one is photographic, and the other is text only. But this incredible six-sheet (which we have never seen or heard of before) has a wonderful stone litho image! Also note that this six-sheet was printed in 4 sections designed to overlap. Condition: very good. There is some darkening on the back of the part of the poster that was on the outside when it was fully folded. There are some creases and several tears along the foldlines that were on the outside when the poster was fully folded. There are some creases, smudges, and tiny tears on some foldlines, and some tiny paper loss at some crossfolds. Learn More about condition grades
