An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) Two Arabian Knights, the 1927 Lewis Milestone (winner of the Best Director Academy Award for this film) silent World War I (WWI) romantic love triangle military comedy (produced by Howard Hughes; a preposterous story of two English prisoners of war in a German POW camp during World War I; they are complete opposites and hate each other, but they join together in the camp in wanting to escape; they do that dressed as Arabs in robes made out of sheets, but once out of the camp, they are mistaken for Arab prisoners, and are sent to an Arabian prison camp!; once there, they make plans to escape, but they meet a beautiful young woman they both fall in love with, but she is being forced into a marriage to an evil sheik, so they decide to rescue her before they escape) starring William Boyd, Mary Astor, Louis Wolheim, Michael Vavitch, Ian Keith, and Boris Karloff. Note that Lewis Milestone won an Oscar for "Best Director, Comedy Picture" for this film, the first and only year that category appeared in the Academy Awards. Also note that this movie was early in Boris Karloff's career, and he was not prominently billed, and we don't know if he was pictured on any of the posters, because they are super rare, but we doubt that he was, because he played "the purser of the tramp steamer", which certainly wasn't a notable role. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that first release 1927 movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie poster from this movie (only a few lobby cards and 8x10 stills) until we received this window card! Also note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a heavy paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards. What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. Prior to paperbacking, the window card had pinholes, tears, and small paper loss around the edges, and some smudges and scuffs scattered throughout the card. Overall, the window card was in good to very good condition prior to paperbacking. The window card was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
