Joe!) starring Burgess Meredith ("as Ernie Pyle"), Robert Mitchum (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Freddie Steele, Wally Cassell, Jimmy Lloyd, John R. Reilly, Dorothy Coonan, and Yolanda Lacca. Note that Mitchum was barely mentioned (and not pictured) on any of the original advertising for this movie. A few years later, in 1949, when it was re-released (after Mitchum had become a huge star), it was promoted as a Robert Mitchum starring movie, and Mitchum's image took the place of Meredith's on the posters!
