Date Sold 9/20/2005Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Glass Slide (measures approximately 3" x 4") (Learn More) Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Castle ("America's Foremost Exponents of Society Dances in Motion Pictures"), the 1920s silent dance musical starring Vernon Castle and Irene Castle. We don't know if this was used with a live stage show, or if it was used for a short movie of the Castles performing on stage. If anyone knows for sure, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Note that star Irene Castle was the wife of Vernon Castle, and together they were a legendary dance team, but she made some movie appearances without her husband. In 1949, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers made a biography of them called "The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle". NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). We have taken a digital photo of each that shows the general condition of the overall slide and holder, and we have also made a digital scan that shows the glass image well, but does not show the holder (except as a dark outline). Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
