An Original Vintage Movie Script (measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm], 116 pages) (Learn More) Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (released in the U.S. as "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone"), the 2001 Chris Columbus English/U.S. family witchcraft sorcerer magic adventure fantasy thriller ("Let the magic begin"; "Journey into your imagination"; "Journey beyond your imagination."; "Need a break from your family? Spend Christmas with Harry."; "It's everything you wished for this Christmas."; "Not the only one with a homemade sweater for Christmas?"; "It's everything you wished for... and more."; "Based on the novel by J.K. Rowling") starring Daniel Radcliffe (in the title role as Harry Potter), Rupert Grint (as Ron Weasley), Emma Watson (as Hermione Granger), Richard Harris (as Professor Dumbledore), Maggie Smith (as Professor McGonagall), Robbie Coltrane (as Hagrid), Ian Hart (as Professor Quirrell), Richard Brenner (as He Who Must Not Be Named), Alan Rickman (as Professor Snape), and John Cleese (as Nearly Headless Nick). Note that this film was known as "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" everywhere except the U.S., where it was known as "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone". This was to keep the film consistent with the book series because the U.S. publisher, Scholastic, had changed the title of the book to "Sorcerer's". The change was likely due in part to American children not being familiar with the mythical alchemist substance. An uncited source states the publisher also thought that an American child would not want to read a book with the word 'philosopher' in the title! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this script is the revised shooting draft from November 9, 2000 and the screenplay was written by Steve Kloves. Because this script includes all the revisions through 4/19/01, and the entire script is in a single printing, it is clear that this script was created AFTER 4/19/01, so bear that in mind before placing a bid on this script. Note that this script was consigned to us directly from director/screenwriter Charles Shyer. Mr. Shyer is the director of many extremely popular movies from the 1970s to the present, many of which are romantic comedies, including House Calls, Private Benjamin, Baby Boom, remakes of Father of the Bride and The Parent Trap, and many others. Over the years, he collected scripts, which he received primarily in two different ways. He was friends with screenwriters, directors, and producers during those years, and they would sometimes send him scripts of their movies to get his opinion of them, and many of those are offered here. In addition, as a member of the screenwriter's branch of the Academy, he was sent many scripts where the producers hoped that their script would be nominated for a Best Screenwriting Academy Award, and many of these have "for your consideration" printed on the cover. This is a rare opportunity to purchase original scripts that come directly from the personal collection of a prominent director/screenwriter! Condition: very good. Note that we have photographed the cover of the script, the title page, the final page of the script (the one that reads "THE END"), and one or more interior pages. These images will not only provide important information about the script, but they also allow you to closely judge the condition of the script. The script is 100% complete!
