An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 41" x 81" [104 x 206 cm]) (Learn More) The Hidden Pearls, the 1918 George Melford (billed as "George H. Melford") silent Hawaii interracial romance romantic love triangle melodrama ("by Beulah Marie Dix"; about the son of an American pearl trader who marries a princess from one of the Hawaiian islands, and he grows up in America, not knowing about his mother being a princess, but when he is engaged, he learns that his father lost his fortune, and his fiancee jilts him because he is now poor, and he goes to Hawaii, where he is made the king, and a beautiful Hawaiian girl shows him the hidden pearl treasure of the island, and, incredibly ungrateful, he steals the pearls and goes back to his former fiancee, but she treats him badly, and he goes back to Hawaii, giving back the pearls and he and his new girlfriend become the king and queen of the island) starring Sessue Hayakawa, Margaret Loomis, Florence Vidor, Theodore Roberts, James Cruze, Noah Beery Sr., and Jack Holt NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that first release 1918 movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a one-sheet from this movie (and no other movie paper of any kind) until we received this three-sheet! Also note that this three-sheet was printed in 3 sections designed to overlap. Condition: fair. The poster has darkened and is fragile, and there are separations, tiny tears, and tiny areas of paper loss on parts of many folds (with three larger areas of paper loss in different parts of the middle vertical fold and in the borders). The poster is mostly "all there", and after linenbacking by a talented professional, the poster will display well, and will likely need little paint restoration within the image, except for the exact areas noted above (which you can also see in our super-sized image). Please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept its very significant defects and are willing to pay to have them properly restored! Learn More about condition grades
