Sherriff"; the writer of the movie, R.C. Sherriff, had been a soldier in World War I, and he wanted to truthfully depict the psychological horrors of serving in war, and he did so successfully in his screenplay for this movie, which had top actors) starring Colin Clive ("by special permission of Maurice Browne, Ltd"), Ian Maclaren, Anthony Bushell, David Manners, Charles Gerrard, Thomas Whitley, and Billy Bevan (one of the better Charlie Chaplin imitators of the time). Note that it was the success of this movie that would raise James Whale's profile and get him signed to Universal, and get him the directing assignment on the following year's "Frankenstein" (and he cast Colin Clive, whom he had worked with on this movie). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this half-sheet! Bear this in mind before bidding on this poster. Also note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 18 3/4" x 25 1/4" [48 x 64 cm]. Condition: fair. The poster was trimmed on all four sides, and there is paper loss in the bottom corners and pinholes in the top corners.
