Schoedsack Africa New York City giant ape fantasy romantic love triangle adventure horror thriller ("'The most awesome thriller of all time' the one and only"; "Not beast.. Not human.... Not devil.. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that while this poster is from the 1952 re-release of this classic movie, it is still quite rare (far more rare than the one-sheets from most of the other re-releases, or even the first release, for that matter!). We have only auctioned two examples of it in the past 21 years! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair to good. The poster had paper loss at the bottom two crossfolds, with tiny paper loss at the top crossfold. It had creases, tears, and small paper loss scattered across the bottom horizontal fold and in the bottom half of the vertical fold, with a lesser amount of wear on the other folds. It had some staple holes and tears around the edges. There were two diagonal scratches in the lower left, running to the part of Kong's hand over Wray's body, with a very long vertical scratch down the lower left of the poster, and a 6" diagonal scratch to the right of the bottom of the first scratch, running through Wray's hair (see our image). Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was likely backed many years ago, and only the slightest attempts at restoration were made. If I owned this very rare poster, I would surely immediately give it to a talented restorer to remove from the present backing. After being re-backed and properly restored, the poster will display well, but bear in mind its defects and the cost of additional restoration before bidding on it. Learn More about condition grades
