An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Insert Movie Poster (measures 13" x 35" [33 x 89 cm]) (Learn More)

Saratoga, the 1937 Jack Conway New York romantic mismatched couple horse racing sports gambling comedy ("Original Story and Screen play by Anita Loos and Robert Hopkins"; about the daughter of an owner of a horse farm who lost it to a gambler just before he died, and the gambler offers to give her back the farm and forgive the debt, but she insists on repaying it, and even though the two hate each other at first sight, they come to fall in love!) starring Clark Gable, Jean Harlow, Lionel Barrymore, Frank Morgan, Walter Pidgeon, Cliff Edwards, Una Merkel, Hattie McDaniel, and Margaret Hamilton (in an uncredited role). This was Jean Harlow's final movie (she died from kidney failure during the filming, and her last few scenes had to be completed by a stunt double).

Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning! Note also that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 13" x 35" [33 x 89 cm]. It is completely separated on the bottom and middle fold (because the tape on the back of those two folds has come loose completely), and the tape on the back of the top fold has mostly come loose, so the poster can be sent in a standard flat package, which would greatly reduce the cost of shipping.

Note that this item needs to be shipped in an oversized flat package. Most of these items absolutely can only be sent in flat packages, and could not possibly be rolled into a tube. Some of them might SEEM like they could be rolled in a tube, like a half-sheet, but they can't. The reason these items are in this auction is specifically because they CAN'T be rolled (because rolling any of them would damage them, even if they somehow can be rolled). So please bear in mind that this item must be sent in a LARGE flat package (the size of the package will depend on the size of the item when ready for shipping), and bear this added expense in mind before placing a bid on it. IN THE CASE OF EXTREMELY LARGE FLAT ITEMS, THE SHIPPING COST WILL BE VERY HIGH, SO PLEASE DO NOT BID WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT THAT ADDED SHIPPING AMOUNT, AND INCLUDE THAT AMOUNT IN WHAT YOU BID (so if you would pay $150, but the shipping is likely $100, then only bid $50). And those who live outside the U.S. and who do not have a U.S. address to ship to SHOULD NOT BID AT ALL ON EXTREMELY LARGE FLAT ITEMS, BECAUSE THEY COST HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO SEND OUTSIDE THE U.S.

Condition: fair. As noted above the poster had all of its borders trimmed off and also was completely separated on each fold. Someone many years ago put brown paper tape on the back of each fold, but that has almost completely dried up. The poster also has some faint water stains and scuffs scattered throughout including a noticeable scuff down the center of Harlow's face but which mostly misses her eyes, nose and mouth. While a top restorer can certainly "rescue" this poster, bear in mind its very significant defects and look at our super-sized image BEFORE bidding on this extremely rare poster.
