An Original Undated (probably 1951; from the first Japanese release of this movie) Vintage Theatrical Folded Japanese Movie Poster (measures 35 1/4" x 59") (Learn More) David O. Selznick's Duel in the Sun, the 1947 King Vidor epic cowboy western ("Savagery! Spectacle! Fury! With added scope of wide screen!"; "David O. Selznick's Greatest Technicolor Triumph!"; about a cattle baron who has two grown sons, and beautiful seductive half-breed woman shows up, and both sons fall for her, but inexplicably, she chooses the "bad" son over the "good" son, even though the bad son treats her terribly!) starring Jennifer Jones (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Gregory Peck, Joseph Cotten, Lionel Barrymore, Herbert Marshall, Lillian Gish (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Walter Huston, Charles Bickford, Butterfly McQueen "with a cast of 2500", Sidney Blackmer, Tilly Losch, Griff Barnett, Harry Carey Sr, Otto Kruger, Lane Chandler, Lloyd Shaw, Thomas Dillon, Joan Tetzel, Robert McKenzie, and Charles Dingle NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster is approximately twice the size of a Japanese "B1" poster, but it is printed on two large sheets, designed to overlap, as are Japanese two-panel posters, which are twice the size of a Japanese "B2". We have seen later posters (1970s on) that measure approximately this size, but are printed on one single large sheet, which would seem to indicate to us that in the 1960s and earlier, Japanese printers did not have presses that could print a poster of this size in a single sheet, but that in the 1970s, they acquired such presses, and began printing these posters on a single sheet (just as U.S. poster distributors started printing three-sheet posters on a single sheet in the 1970s). We do not know if there is an official Japanese term for this size poster, but if someone e-mails us further information about this size, we will post it here. Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. Learn More about condition grades
