Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36") (Learn More) The Personal History, Adventures, Experience, and Observation of David Copperfield the Younger (released in other English-speaking countries as "Charles Dickens' David Copperfield"), the classic 1935 George Cukor historical England orphan coming-of-age family relationship romantic melodrama ("Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's Mightiest Production"; "1935's Most Beloved Motion Picture"; "The Best-Loved Motion Picture of 1935"; "Charles Dickens' Greatest Story"; "Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's greatest motion picture with a cast of 65"; "Star cast of 65 players"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; based on the famous novel by Charles Dickens; produced by David O. Selznick) starring W.C. Fields ("as Micawber"), Lionel Barrymore ("as Dan Peggotty"), Madge Evans ("as Agnes"), Maureen O'Sullivan ("as Dora"), Edna May Oliver ("as Aunt Betsey"), Lewis Stone ("as Mr. Wickfield"), Frank Lawton (in the title role "as David, The Man"), Freddie Bartholomew (in the title role "as David, The Child"), Elizabeth Allan ("as Mrs. Copperfield"), Roland Young ("as Uriah Heep"), Jessie Ralph (as Nurse Peggotty), Frank Lawton (as David, The Man), Jean Cadell, Lennox Pawle, Basil Rathbone, and a "Star Cast of 65 Players". Note that MGM took a great chance in casting W.C. Fields in the role of Micawber. No doubt everyone expected Fields to greatly ham up the role, and turn this serious subject into slapstick, but instead, he gave a wonderful performance, and added greatly to the movie! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: This poster has been professionally linenbacked. It now looks great, and most dealers would describe it as "fine (or mint) on linen". We have noted the defects that were restored below (and feel everyone should always do this!). Many collectors would not be aware of the restoration this poster has had unless it was specifically shown to them! Condition: good to very good. This poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. It appears to have had the following defects: all of the blank borders had been neatly trimmed off; in addition the poster had some small areas of paper loss around the edges of the image (including part of Fields' foot at lower right) and separation and tears in the lower left top of the credits area. There are creases and light scuffs in several places in the image area. There were smudges in almost all the white background areas. The person who backed the poster pretty much left it as is, and did not attempt to replace the missing borders. Learn More about condition grades
