An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) A Star Is Born, the classic 1937 William A. Wellman (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) romantic Hollywood California acting melodrama ("Many a star is born to blush unseen... but not these two..."; "Is the price of stardom a broken heart?"; "The First Modern Picture in Technicolor"; "You'll be seeing stars - and love it!"; "Lights- camera- action!"; "Produced by David O. Selznick"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; based on the true life story of Al Jolson and Ruby Keeler, this has since been re-made three times; with Judy Garland and James Mason, Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson, and most recently with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper!) starring Janet Gaynor (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Fredric March (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Adolphe Menjou, May Robson, Andy Devine, Lionel Stander, Carole Landis, and Lana Turner (in one of her earliest big screen roles) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: good to very good. The entire card has darkened somewhat. There is a 1" diagonal tear in the middle of the left border (in the blank white area only). There are varying degrees of small paper loss in all four corners. There is a stain in the left of the top border that extends into the yellow area and the top of the purple heart, and someone did very amateur restoration to those areas, to touch up those colors. There is a similar stain in the middle of the left border that extends into the edge of the lower purple heart. There are some smudges and tiny dot stains throughout the card and some pinholes around the edges. There is one piece of brown paper tape on the back of the center of the top border, but it was not put there for any restoration purpose. Obviously, this card has real condition defects, but certainly a talented restorer could greatly improve the appearance of this card, and there would not need to be much restoration in the image areas.
