An Original 1928 Vintage English Movie Trade Ad (measures 9 1/2" x 15 1/4" [24 x 39 cm]; 1 page) (Learn More) Swim Girl Swim, the 1927 Clarence G. Badger silent romantic beach comedy ("Story and Screen Play by Lloyd Corrigan") starring Bebe Daniels, Gertrude Ederle, James Hall, Josephine Dunn, and William Austin. Note that Gertrude Ederle was an American competition swimmer, Olympic champion, and the first woman to swim across the English Channel! She donated most of her salary from this movie to the Woman's Swimming Association, which had sponsored her first try at crossing the English Channel. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: From the 1920s on, studios would create elaborate trade ads, often in full color, and often using the finest artists of the day. They would run these ads in their studio yearbooks and exhibitor magazines, and they would also print those trade ads separately and mail them individually to theater owners, trying to get them to book that specific movie. Sometimes those books and magazines are separated and the ads, which now greatly resemble the individually printed trade ads, are sold individually. The trade ad offered here was removed from an English trade magazine. It can be framed and displayed (but many trade ads have different images on each side, so one must choose which side to display if it is framed!). Condition: good. The page was removed from a magazine (see above). Learn More about condition grades
