An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Howard Hawks' Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, the classic 1953 Howard Hawks romantic musical son-of-rich-man-loves-beautiful-wacky-showgirl-and-his-father-does-everything-to-break-them-up comedy ("The two M-M-Marvels of our age in the wonder musical of the world!"; "Based on the musical Comedy by Joseph Fields and Anita Loos"; "Music and Lyrics by Jule Styne and Leo Robin"; "Presented on the Stage by Herman Levin and Oliver Smith") starring Jane Russell (as Dorothy Shaw), Marilyn Monroe (as Lorelei Lee), Charles Coburn (as Sir Francis 'Piggy' Beekman), Elliot Reid, Tommy Noonan, George Winslow (the little boy with the super deep voice, billed as "George 'Foghorn' Winslow"), Marcel Dalio, Taylor Holmes, Norma Varden, Howard Wendell, and Steven Geray NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: fair. The poster is creased and lightly water stained throughout. There was an extra vertical foldline 1" to the right of the regular vertical foldline, and someone put tape on the back of the top quarter of that extra vertical foldline, putting paper behind three areas in the blank background that had small paper loss. They put small pieces of tape on the front of each of those areas and on the front of the center of the top border and in a few other border areas. There was paper loss in the top right and bottom left blank corners, and someone taped a piece from another poster to the back of those areas. The poster IS in urgent need of expert professional restoration, but it is fortunate that much of the defects are in the blank borders and white background areas. After proper restoration and linenbacking by a talented professional, this poster will look quite nice (although there will be a fair amount of paint restoration required in the borders and background areas). Please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept the defects described above, or are willing to pay to have them properly restored, and unless you have carefully read the above, and carefully studied our super-sized image!
