Recently a collector/dealer called us and said that while he HAD previously consigned to a few other auction houses other than us, he would now only consign to us. When we asked why, he said that, in addition to the roughly 20% buyers premiums all other major auctions charge (except us, because we have NO buyers premiums), another auction had told him that there would now be a 25% sellers commission "across the board", meaning they would get 45% of the selling price of all he gave them, even thousand dollar items!

He already knew that we only charge a 20% sellers commission on thousand dollar items, and no buyers premium, so that meant their rate was well over DOUBLE what ours is. He added that had already had other disagreements with this auctions on other matters, but that for him, this huge commission was "the final straw".

We went to that auction's site to confirm what he had told us, and we found something VERY unusual, which was that we could not find a link to sellers commission page anywhere! We went to Google, and found no links that way either. What kind of business does not tell you up front on their website how much they will charge you?

Doesn't it make sense to consign your cherished collectibles to an auction house that is up front with you in every way, and which charges less? We treat every consignor (and buyer) the way WE would like to be treated when WE deal with any auction!
