eMoviePoster.comCool Item Of the Month: The Gilded LilyReturn to Cool Item of the Month Archive Added: 03/13/2023 As many of you know, I, Bruce Hershenson, owner of eMoviePoster.com, have collected pressbooks (and related movie paper like studio yearbooks) for over 30 years, and I have the world's foremost collection of such material. I thought I would share one item with you this week, the type of items you almost surely have never seen before, and which might not come up for sale for DECADES! This week, I have the pressbook from The Gilded Lily, the 1921 Robert Z. Leonard silent New York City romantic love triangle melodrama ("By Clara Beranger"; about a cafe hostess who is romanced by a wealthy playboy and a poor country boy, and in a surprising twist, she gives up the big city and chooses the poor country boy who then starts drinking and wants her to return to her former life so she can support him, and the wealthy playboy rescues her and he marries her!) starring Mae Murray, Lowell Sherman, Jason Robards Sr., Charles K. Gerrard, and Lenora von Ottinger. Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. Here are images of the front, back, and interior pages: Each week I will showcase a different pressbook (or related item) from my collection (so in just 25,000 weeks or so, I will have shared the entire collection with you!).
