As many of you know, I, Bruce Hershenson, owner of eMoviePoster.com, have collected pressbooks (and related movie paper like studio yearbooks) for over 30 years, and I have the world's foremost collection of such material. I thought I would share one item with you each week, the type of items you almost surely have never seen before, and which might not come up for sale for DECADES!

So below is the pressbook from Die Sklavenkonigin (released in the U.S. in 1927 as "Moon of Israel"), the 1924 Michael Curtiz Austrian/English silent Biblical Jewish-exodus-from-Egypt epic ("Colossal!"; "From the famous novel by Sir H. Rider Haggard") starring Maria Corda, Adelqui Migliar, Arlette Marchal, Ferdinand Onno, Oscar Beregi Sr., Henry Mar, and "with a cast of 50,000". Note that this was one of the 64 movies Michael Curtiz directed in Hungary and other European countries before arriving in the U.S. in 1926. The following year, FBO Pictures bought the rights to this 1924 Michael Curtiz movie, and released it in the U.S., billing him under his American name of Michael Curtiz. Note that the reason the movie had not been released in 1924 was because Cecil B. DeMille had just made "The Ten Commandments", and he did not want this movie with a similar plot (and some critics said it was superior!) to be released in the U.S., and he was able to keep it from being released for three years!
