An Original Vintage Theatrical Japanese Movie Hardcover Campaign Book (measures 6" x 8 1/2" [15 x 22 cm]; 71 pages) (Learn More) Japanese Motion Pictures 1954, the 1954 hardcover book created by the "Motion Picture Association of Japan", which consisted of the five Japanese film production companies then in existence, which included Toho. These five companies created 302 feature films in 1953, and Japan had 3,900 theaters in 1953 (this information comes from this book). This book, which is entirely in English (because it was surely intended for non-Japanese countries, especially the U.S.) has five sections, one for each of the five film production companies, and each one devotes two pages to each of their upcoming movies, with one or two images from each movie. Probably far and away of most interest to collectors is the section on Toho movies, which has a wonderful 2-page spread for "Seven Samurai", a 2-page spread for "The Eagle of the Pacific" (starring Toshiro Mifune), and ones for three other Toho movies. We are sure this book is incredibly rare! Condition: very good to fine. The book has minor wear and has darkening on the first two interior blank pages, and the last two interior blank pages, but is otherwise in really nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
