Reeves Eason boxing sports romantic melodrama ("A knockout of thrills, laughs and romance!"; "Dynamite in his fists... love on his mind!"; about a prizefighter who needs to fight a boxer to win the championship, but it is complicated by his love of the boxer's sister) starring Wayne Morris, Barton MacLane, June Travis, Max 'Slapsie Maxie' Rosenbloom, Archie Robbins (billed as "James Robbins"), Frank Otto, and Dickie Jones. Note that this movie was filmed in 1936, but was not released until two years later. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: This was printed by Associated Displays Corporation which was a company based in New York City. Before it was discovered by noted poster dealer/historian Walter Reuben, collectors did not know the name of this company (and thought it to be located in the Midwest), and it is often referred to as the "other company" (and we will continue to refer to it that way, since collectors know it that way). From 1936 to roughly 1941, this company printed its own one-sheets and lobby card sets (and a very few inserts, half-sheets, three-sheets, 40x60s and stills) for three major studio movies (Warner Brothers, Paramount and United Artists, but no other studios). The items almost always feature a tiny legal disclaimer and cast credits only. The posters and lobby cards are from the original release of the movie, and almost always have completely different artwork from the regular studio release. They did this by combining elements from different film scenes onto one poster or card. Sometimes, "other company" posters have images that are the equal of those from the regular studio release posters. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds, minor wear on the folds, and tiny pinholes around the edges. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Note that either the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster, or possibly the owner of the poster chose to carefully trim off the excess, so that the poster would fit in a frame.
