Never such adventure, such romance! Sail to high adventure with 'The Robin Hood of the Sea'!"; set in the time of the war between England and Spain, and the English navy has had no success against the Spanish armada, and in desperation, Queen Elizabeth hires a buccaneer to see what he can do, and of course, he has much success!) starring Errol Flynn, Brenda Marshall, Claude Rains, Donald Crisp, Flora Robson (as Queen Elizabeth I), Alan Hale Sr., and Henry Daniell NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned two examples of this 1947 re-release one-sheet, and the last one was 14 years ago! Also note that this 1947 re-release has a completely different image from the 1940 first release one-sheet (which we are currently auctioning in a separate auction). What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had small paper loss at the crossfolds, with semi-circular tears under the left and right of the top fold, with some tiny paper loss along those tears. It had a 2" semi-circular tear in the vertical fold between the middle and bottom folds and a similar tear in the right of the bottom horizontal fold. Its blank borders were trimmed off and there were some tears, staple holes, and paper loss around the edges of the image. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, and the restorer replaced the missing borders, but you can clearly see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Note that the restorer left a tiny bit of excess linen around all four sides of the poster (they left a small border in order to protect the poster from handling damage, but they did not leave a larger border, to allow it to more easily fit in a frame).
