An Undated (probably 1920s) Re-Release Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

Carmen, the 1915 Raoul Walsh silent Spain war-time military doomed love romantic melodrama (based on the novella written in 1845 by Prosper Merimee, which was adapted into an opera by Georges Bizet in 1875; about a Spanish soldier who falls under the spell of a gypsy woman and his obsession eventually leads himself to ruin) starring Theda Bara (in the title role as Carmen), Einar Linden (as Don Jose), Carl Harbaugh, James A. Marcus, and Emil De Varney. Note that while Raoul Walsh was making this version, Cecil D. DeMille was making a competing version with Geraldine Farrar, and Walsh's version was released first. Charlie Chaplin made fun of the "duelling Carmens" in his "Burlesque on Carmen", also released in 1915. There were three more silent Carmens and there have been many sound versions as well. Also, note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned one other lobby card from this movie, and a single still, until we received this second 1920s re-release lobby card! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Condition: good to very good. There are enlarged pinholes in each corner, with some scuffing and surface paper loss in the bottom of the card, and a 2" scratch mark at bottom right and tiny paper loss in the bottom left blank corner. Note that this card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back!
