eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 3f0012 KEEPER OF THE BEES 3sh 1935 Neil Hamilton & Betty Furness, Gene Stratton-Porter, ultra rare! Date Sold 11/22/2022Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Kraftbacked Folded Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 41" x 81" [104 x 206 cm]) (Learn More) The Keeper of the Bees, the 1935 Christy Cabanne post-World War I (WWI) military veteran romantic melodrama ("Gene Stratton-Porter's famous novel"; about a World War I veteran with what is now called PTSD, and he finds a happy little village run by a man called "The Bee Keeper", and everybody in the town is so cheerful that he is brought out of his deep depression) starring Neil Hamilton, Betty Furness, Emma Dunn, Edith Fellowes and Hobart Bosworth. Note that Betty Furness did not have a giant movie career, but she went on to a TV quiz show career (and as a consumer affairs expert), and star Neil Hamilton gained fame much later as Commissioner Gordon on TV's "Batman". Finally, Edith Fellowes was a juvenile actress of the 1930s who never had major roles, but who added much in supporting roles in many movies, including in this one! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning, and we have only auctioned a single one-sheet (in 2008) and a few lobby cards for this movie but no other movie paper for it whatsoever! Note that this three-sheet was printed in 2 sections designed to overlap. Also note that this poster has been kraftbacked, which means it was backed onto a brown paper soon after it was printed (this process is called "kraft-backing", and posters with it are called "kraft-backed"). One could have it professionally removed from the kraft paper and linenbacked, and it would look great! Note that this is one of an amazing find of four similar three-sheets that were found in the home of a man who worked at a movie theater in the mid 1930s, and he took these posters home with him and they sat undisturbed in his house ever since! All of these three-sheets were folded oddly, and they measure approximately 21" x 21", and all are incredibly rare. We are also auctioning seven other three-sheets that also came from this amazing find, in seven separate auctions, but those seven were folded very differently, and they measure approximately 13" x 20" when folded, but just like the four that were folded the other way, they are also incredibly rare. This may be your only opportunity to obtain this poster (or any of the other three-sheets, which are being auctioned in separate auctions). Also note that this poster was folded oddly, and it now measures approximately 21" x 21", so it will need to be sent in a larger than normal flat package that measures approximately 23" x 23", so bear this in mind before bidding. Condition: good. The poster has been kraftbacked (see above). It also has pinholes around the edges and some creases and smudges scattered through the image. One can have it professionally removed from the kraftbacking and restored, but bear all of this in mind before bidding on this extremely rare poster. Learn More about condition grades
