An Autographed Letter (measures 7" x 10 1/2" [18 x 27 cm]) (Learn More)

Neil Hamilton was an actor from the 1910s to the 1970s. He was born in 1899, and his good looks got him a job as a teenage shirt model, which led to some film roles. His big break was in D.W. Griffith's "The White Rose" in 1923. He was in a few more Griffith movies and he signed with Paramount and became one of their leading stars in the 1920s and 1930s, and successfully transitioned to being a character actor (including in Tarzan the Ape Man in 1932), and he never had a break in his career, all the way into the 1970s! He is likely best remembered for playing Commissioner Gordon in TV's "Batman"! He passed away in 1984 at the age of 85.
Important Added Info: Note that this letter has been personally autographed (signed) by Neil Hamilton! The letter was sent by a fan to Mr. Hamilton in 1925. The fan was from his home town of Athol, Massachusetts, and he said that getting a letter "from the old home town" pleases him more than a hundred others, so he sent her a signed photo along with a letter encouraging her to see his latest movies. Our consignor is a longtime collector who purchased this signed item from a reputable dealer. He does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature to likely be authentic. Note that the letter comes together with the original envelope Mr. Hamilton addressed to the fan (plus two cents postage and a 1925 postmark, and there is also a clipping from a newspaper about Mr. Hamilton and his wife (see our images).

As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes.

Condition: very good.
