An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Spirit of Stanford, the 1942 Charles Barton California university college football sports Rose Bowl thriller ("A thunder-bolt from the gridiron!") starring Frankie Albert ("All-American Quarter Back"), Marguerite Chapman, Matt Willis, Shirley Patterson, Lloyd Bridges, and Ernie Nevers. Note that Ernie Nevers was a legendary football player in his day who appeared in four movies in cameo roles as football players. He was nicknamed "The One-Man-Team", and he once scored 40 points by himself in a single game (six touchdowns and four points after touchdowns), a record that has never been broken (and likely never will be). He was a charter member of the Football Hall of Fame, but he is sadly forgotten today. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and some extra creases on parts of the foldlines. It had some tiny pinholes and tears around the edges. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed, but likely after it was backed, it acquired surface paper loss in the bottom right of the image (see our image). Any restorer could touch up that area without re-backing the poster. Learn More about condition grades
