An Original Vintage Unfolded World War I Poster (measures 12" x 16" [30 x 41 cm]) (Learn More)

Join the U.S. Marine Corps., the 1917 U.S. World War II (WWII) recruitment poster ("Soldiers of the sea!"; "First to fight!") encouraging men to join the Marines, and featuring Louis Fancher art of Marines rowing a boat to shore with a battleship in the background! Note that the U.S. Marine Corps was founded in 1775 as the "fighting branch" of the U.S. Navy. Most people think of the Marines are a completely separate branch of the military, but actually, they are still closely tied to the Navy (although many Marines don't like to think about that)!
Artist: Louis Fancher
Important Added Info: Note that this poster is printed on a heavyweight paper stock, similar to that used for U.S. window cards from the 1930s and earlier. It will be sent in a flat package, because rolling it would surely damage it.

Condition: good to very good. There is water staining down the left 1 1/2" of the poster, slightly entering the left border of the art, and extending past it in the top and bottom blank borders. You can clearly see where the staining is on the back of the poster, but it is not very distracting at all from the front. Any restorer could easily remove this staining through chemical means, but I would think many collectors would be happy to simply frame this poster as is, because properly matted, the staining will not be at all distracting (see our image). Other than the staining described above, the poster is in really nice condition!
