Note several leading men turned down the controversial title role. Terence Stamp played Alfie on Broadway, but refused to reprise it, so casting agents offered it to his friend (and then roommate) Michael Caine! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster was printed with a "SUITABLE FOR ADULTS ONLY" across the bottom in the red border. In the past before this, all nine examples of this poster that we have auctioned have had that border painted over with red paint (for use in New Zealand). HOWEVER, THIS POSTER DOES NOT HAVE THAT RED PAINT! That is a big plus for this poster. There may be another example of this poster without the red paint, but it is surely a great rarity. Condition: good. The poster has small patches of slight discoloration scattered in various areas due to exposure to moisture (more so in the lower quarter and lower vertical foldline of the poster). There are creases, small areas of paper loss and pinholes around the edges (some are torn or enlarged due to rough removal) and there are small areas of paper loss along portions of the left center horizontal fold. There is marker writing on the back that slightly bleeds through to the front at lower center in the credits bear the studio logo. Please see our super-sized image to get a good sense of the condition of this item prior to placing a bid. Learn More about condition grades
