Date Sold 9/4/2016Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage German Film Program (measures 5 1/4" x 10 1/2" [13 x 27 cm]; 6 pages) (Learn More) Symphonie Eines Lebens (literally translates to "Symphony of Life"), the 1943 Hans Bertram German doomed romance melodrama (about a church choir leader who has a loving wife and children, but he meets a beautiful countess and falls madly in love with her and completely wrecks his life for her, and after he marries her, he sees her dancing with a young man and kills the man in a fit of jealousy, and spends twelve years in prison, and when he is released, his former wife is dying, but she tells him to never see their now grown children, so they can remember him how he was!) starring Henny Porten, Gisela Uhlen, Harry Baur, Harald Paulsen, Albert Florath, and Julia Serda. Note that the movie is divided into four sections to resemble the "movements" of a symphony, so it is telling the "symphony" of this man's tragic life. Also note that it appears this movie was never released in the U.S., which makes sense because it was made in Nazi Germany during World War II. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is a "country of origin" item for this German movie! Note that immediately after World War II, some U.S. movies played in Germany in special limited showings that were for American soldiers stationed there. They created "Filmpost" programs for these special showings (and there were also some special showings of non-U.S. movies, apparently for some German citizens, which also received these Filmpost programs). A short while later, those same movies had their first regular release in Germany, and "regular" programs were created. Also note that this program has six pages, but it is printed on a large single sheet that is tri-folded (we have photographed each side of the program completely unfolded). Condition: good.
