A Linenbacked French Commercial Poster (made to be sold directly to the public; measures 19 1/4" x 25 1/2" [49 x 65 cm]) (Learn More) Bal Tabarin was a Paris, France cabaret from 1904 to 1953. It was opened by the composer and orchestra leader Auguste Bosc and was an immediate success. In 1928 Pierre Sandrini and Pierre Dubout took over the establishment, and Sandrini introduced ballet to his floor shows, and dress designs by Erte. Over the years performers have included: Florence Waren, Frederic Apcar, and Josephine Baker (the legendary black African American singer/dancer who appeared in a few movies and who performed in Paris cabarets, including this one, often topless) Artist: Paul Colin Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this 1970s French commercial poster, which reuses the 1928 Paul Colin art (we are guessing 1970s, but we don't think that could be very far off). If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. What IS linenbacking?
