An Original Vintage 6 1/2" x 8 1/2" [17 x 22 cm] News Photo (Learn More) Rudolph Valentino was a legendary Italian actor from the 1910s to the 1920s. He was the original "Latin Lover". Some of his movies include: The Sheik, The Son of the Sheik, and The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Sadly, Valentino passed away from peritonitis on August 23, 1926 at the age of 31, and at the height of his fame. AND Gene Tunney was a boxing heavyweight champion in the 1920s. Like so many other boxing champs, he was signed to make movies, and he made the 1926 film The Fighting Marine! Tunney had an impressive 65 wins in his 85 fight career, and defeated Jack Dempsey twice: first in 1926, taking the world heavyweight title, and defending it again in 1927 (called "The Long Count Fight"). He passed away in 1978 at the age of 81. Important Added Info: Note that this news photo, which measures 6 1/2" x 8 1/2" [17 x 22 cm], has a wonderful image of the legendary Latin lover Rudolph Valentino sparring with the world champion boxer Gene Tunney. Around this time, Valentino was slammed in the press for causing "the feminization of men" (because they were supposedly applying makeup and eyeliner) and Valentino challenged a reporter to a boxing match in place of a duel, which was no longer legal. No doubt he was asking Gene Tunney to help him prepare for such matches! Condition: good. Learn More about condition grades
