The Philadelphia Story, the 1939 -1940 Robert B. Sinclair Broadway romantic love triangle comedy stage play production (of the play by Philip Barry) starring Katharine Hepburn, Van Heflin, Joseph Cotten, Nicholas Joy, and Ruth Holden. Note that playwright Philip Barry wrote this play specifically for Katharine Hepburn (because her career was in a major downturn, during which she was labeled "box office poison"), but this play was incredibly successful, and she starred in the movie version one year later with Cary Grant and James Stewart, and that revived her career!
