An Original Vintage Linenbacked French "Petite" Movie Tie-In Poster (measures 15 1/4" x 22 1/2" [39 x 57 cm]) (Learn More)

Judex, the 1916 Louis Feuillade French silent crime adventure serial starring Rene Creste (in the title role as Judex), Musidora, Rene Poyen, Edouard Mathe, and Gaston Michel. Note that Louis Feuillade was one of the most important early French directors! He directed Fantomas in 1913 and Les Vampires in 1915, and it is estimated that he directed over 800 movies! More important, he is credited with being the first to direct "thrillers", and it is clear that Alfred Hitchcock, Fritz Lang, and many other directors were students of Feuillade.

Important Added Info: Note that when this movie was released in chapters to theaters in France, it was also released in chapters to a leading French magazine of the day, "Le Petit Parisien", and this poster advertised the magazine having the written version of the serial!

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had minor wear on the foldlines and a few creases and scuffs scattered in the image. There were some smudges and tiny stains in the center of the top of the poster. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above, but they are really not very distracting (and any restorer could touch them up without re-backing the poster).
