An Original Vintage Autographed Studio Release Form (measures 8 1/2" x 11") (Learn More)

Gloria DeHaven was an actress from the 1930s to the 2000s. Some of her movies include: The Yellow Cab Man, Three Little Words, and Summer Stock. In the 1950s, she turned to television, and made many appearances AND June Allyson (born Eleanor Geisman) was a very likeable actress from the 1930s to the 1980s. She was cast over and over as the "good wife", and she tried to break out of that mold playing an incredibly unsympathetic wife in "The Shrike", but the movie failed, and she returned to her good wife roles! Some of her movies include: The Glenn Miller Story, The Three Musketeers, and Executive Suite. She was the daughter of an alcoholic and she was married for a long time to actor Dick Powell, who was an alcoholic, and sadly, after his death, she became an alcoholic, which caused a custody battle for her children with her own mother. Later in life, she became well remembered for her TV commercials for Depends! She passed away in 2006.
Important Added Info: THIS IS REALLY COOL! Apparently when MGM made "Best Foot Forward" in 1943, Gloria De Haven and June Allyson were both unknowns who were in the cast, and somehow the studio accidentally reversed their credits on the print of the movie! Since it would have cost a fortune to fix all the prints, they instead had both young actresses (and their parents) sign this release, which released the studio from any responsibility for this mistake! Note that Gloria De Haven was 19 at the time, so it made sense that her mother had to sign for her, but Allyson was 25, so her parents shouldn't have had to sign, which means that she was almost certainly lying about her age at that time and saying that she was under 21! Also, this was Allyson's first real part, and her name on the release is given as "June Alyson (June Peters, Professionally known as June Alyson)", which is funny because she apparently was originally going to be known as "Alyson" with one "l", but obviously soon after it was changed to "Allyson" with two "l"s! Finally, her real name wasn't "June Peters", because that was yet another stage name (her real name was Eleanor Geisman)! We wonder at what point Miss Allyson's spelling of her name was changed, and also when her true age was revealed. If anyone knows more about any of this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Note that this item was consigned to us by a man who was a major movie memorabilia dealer from the 1980s on. During that time, he would regularly purchase collections of movie memorabilia from both dealers and collectors, and in some of those collections he purchased autographed items, and over the years he did not re-sell any of the autographed items. Now he has gathered up together all of his autographed items and consigned them to us. So all of the items from this consignor we are auctioning were purchased by this dealer from longtime dealers and collectors, and we feel it is quite likely that the autograph on this item is authentic!

Condition: very good to fine. The release is in nice condition!
