An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures approximately 3" x 4") (Learn More) The Pagan, the 1929 W.S. Van Dyke tropical island romantic melodrama (based on the novel by John Russell) starring Ramon Novarro, Renee Adoree, Dorothy Janis, and Donald Crisp. Note that director W.S. Van Dyke had gotten his start as an assistant on D.W. Griffith's "Intolerance" in 1916, and the following year, he was a director of many movies. He directed many westerns and other movies throughout the 1920s, and in 1928, he got his second big break when he helped Robert Flaherty direct "Shadows in the South Seas", and the following year, he was signed by MGM to make "Trader Horn", but it took two years to complete due to all the complications of location filming. The following year, he directed "Tarzan the Ape Man", and the huge success of that movie made him one of the top directors of the 1930s. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). We have taken a digital photo of each that shows the general condition of the overall slide and holder, and we have also made a digital scan that shows the glass image well, but does not show the holder (except as a dark outline). Condition: very good to fine. The glass slide itself is in nice condition and the cardboard holder has some minor smudges (as can be seen in our super-sized images). Learn More about condition grades
