A Vintage Spiral-Bound Book (measures 12 1/2" x 17 1/2" [32 x 44 cm]; 175 pages) (Learn More) 50 Years of Movie Posters, the 1973 John Kobal 178-page English spiral bound book featuring information and images of classic Hollywood movie posters (from 1911 to 1964) with an introduction by David Robinson. Note that this was the very first book showing classic movie posters, and a HUGE number of major collectors got their start after seeing this book in 1973 or soon after! It wasn't until six years later that Steve Shapiro published his "The Movie Poster Book", and of course it was a decade after that that major auctions took an interest in movie posters. This book reproduced many scarce posters, some of which have been "buried" in collections ever since, and have never resurfaced to the present day! Note that approximately half the book is in full color, and that it includes a huge number of full page illustrations! Important Added Info: Note that this is the rare first American edition of this English book. It was later reprinted again in the United States by Bounty Books, but this time they put "A Bounty Book" on the bottom of the cover, which was not on the earlier first American edition, and most examples of this book are that reprint edition!
