A Vintage Softcover Book (measures 7 3/4" x 10 3/4" [20 x 27 cm]; 188 pages) (Learn More) Standard Casting Directories, the illustrated monthly casting directory featuring images and contact information for Hollywood actors and actresses. The actors are divided into categories like leading men, heavy men, feature comedians, etc. Most people get solely a line listing, while others get either a quarter page or a full page (and we assume the actors paid for those illustrated quarter or full pages!). In the 1920s and 1930s, these directories were FILLED with lots of full-page ads, as apparently many actors considered this a vital part of getting jobs. You rarely saw ads from major stars in their prime, but you often saw ads from major stars at the start of their career, or from later in their career, when they were trying to "hang on"! Important Added Info: Note that this is one of 15 different Standard Casting Directories we are currently auctioning, in 15 separate auctions! Many of these have fantastic ads for actors before they became stars. We pictured some of the best ads, but we can't guarantee we didn't miss some really good ones, because each issue has so many pages. We have previously auctioned a number of these, and they are extremely rare and are rarely offered for sale or at auction, so this is a great opportunity to pick up one or several of these rare directories!
