An Original Vintage Folded French One-Panel "Grande" Poster (1p; measures 47 1/4" x 62 3/4" [120 x 159 cm]) (Learn More) Le Diable Boiteux (released in the U.S. in 1982 as "The Lame Devil"), the 1948 Sacha Guitry French historical melodrama starring Sacha Guitry (as Talleyrand), Lana Marconi, Maurice Schutz, Emil Drain, Henry Leverne, Maurice Teynac, Philippe Richard, Georges Spanelly, Robert Dartois, Georges Grey, Jeanne Fusier-Gir, Jose Noguero, and Andre Brunot. Note that director/star Sacha Guitry was a major figure of French cinema and French stage plays. He wrote his first play while still a teenager, and did not get involved with movies until he was 30, but then he wrote, directed, and sometimes starred in a huge volume of work, both on the stage and the screen. He was accused of collaborating with the Nazis in World War II, and although he was allowed to work again in 1947, his career was never the same. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Also note that French posters from the first few years after World War II are among the most rare posters there are! Apparently, there were still major paper shortages in France, and few posters were printed, and most were recycled. This is an extremely rare French poster from 1948. Condition: good to very good.
