An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

Bush Christmas, the 1948 Ralph Smart Australian juvenile adventure melodrama (about five children in the Australian Outback deceived by horse thieves, and they set out by themselves to track them down and get their family's horses back!) starring Chips Rafferty, John Fernside, Helen Grieve, Stan Tolhurts, Pat Pennym and Nick Yardley and The Bush Boys. Note that this is one of the best regarded Australian movies of the 1940s. The children are given intelligent things to say and do, and one of them is the Aborigine son of one of the family's employees, and he is not treated in a demeaning way. First release posters from this movie are extremely rare, especially from the 1948 Universal U.S. release!

Important Added Info: Note that, as noted above, ANY movie paper from the U.S. release of this movie is incredibly rare. Prior to being consigned this title card, we had only auctioned a single U.S. still, and no lobby cards or posters of any kind. Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Condition: fair to good. The card has pinholes and a few small tears around the edges, with tiny surface paper loss in the lower right background area that extends into the bottom writing. It has most of a paper snipe glued over the word "Christmas" at top right and a few light stains and scuffs within the image. This is the sort of card that responds really well to professional restoration. It is likely that the paper snipe can be completely removed by any talented restorer (without causing damage to what is underneath), and that much or all of the smudges and stains can be removed through chemical means, after which the card will look fantastic, but please bear in mind this card's defects and the cost of restoration before bidding on it.
