Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had pinholes in the corners with a 5" tear near the center of the top border and a 6" tear near the center of the bottom border. It had two circular areas of paper loss in the bottom right of the poster, one in the bottom right of the border and one in between the bottom of the "P" and "S" of "SHIPS". There were dot stains scattered throughout the title and bottom writing area. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects, and the restorer did not address the dot stains in the bottom of the poster described above. One could certainly display the poster as it is or choose to have additional restoration performed (with or without re-backing the poster).
