Date Sold 10/15/2019Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 12" x 16" [30 x 41 cm]) (Learn More) Damon Runyon's Little Miss Marker, the 1934 Alexander Hall horse racing gambling romantic tough-guy-whose-heart-melts-because-of-a-little-girl melodrama ("She made these mugs believe in fairies!"; based on the story by Damon Runyon; about a gambler who leaves his young daughter with another gambler as "collateral" on his debt, and then doesn't come back to get her, and the gambler who is "stuck" with the girl grows to love her; this contained a break-out performance by Shirley Temple, who stole the movie at the age of six!) starring Adolphe Menjou (as Sorrowful Jones), Dorothy Dell, Charles Bickford, Shirley Temple, Warren Hymer, and Lynne Overman. This movie co-starred Dorothy Dell in a prominent role. This actress appeared to be on the verge of major stardom, but the following year, she was killed in a car accident, and she was just 19 (click on her name to read more about her). Note that this movie was remade as "Forty Pounds of Trouble" and under the original title of "Little Miss Marker", but without another Shirley Temple, they did not have much success. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: The card was found in the back of a frame where it had been used as a backing board for a picture (many framers in the 1920s and 1930s would use window cards for this purpose, and they would trim them to the size of the frame, not caring that they were cutting into the image!). In this case, the trimming, which was to 12" x 16", affects the right and top of the card, and you can see what is missing by looking at our image. Since most of the title, image (including all of Temple's image!), and credits remain, I would think some people could display this card as is, but please do not bid on this window card unless you can accept its defects described above or are willing to pay to have them properly restored (and we can provide an image of a complete card to the buyer that would greatly help in the restoration, if they wanted to have it restored). Condition: fair. The card was found in a frame and trimmed (see above). It also has some stains in the left border and surface paper loss in the top right corner. Learn More about condition grades
